Photo Flick – A Free Stock Photography Tool

Photo Flick is a free stock photography app we designed and developed that is perfect for sourcing free stock images for your website, blog, and social media. The tool uses images from well-known apps such as Pexels, Pixabay and Unsplash and brings all their free stock photos into one consolidated app.

Simply enter a keyword of your choice and you are presented with a selection of images in a beautiful masonry grid. We went with this structure as it shows you as many images as possible for you to browse. Each image comes with a suitable description and link which allows you to go to the suitable platform to download a higher resolution version of the image.

We used a method called lazy-loading, which means the images load when they come into view on the screen. This way, the images at the bottom of the page do not load straight away and the page loads more quickly as a result. The entire application is fully mobile-responsive, meaning you can have a great experience on all devices.

We were very proud when the tool got previewed on the reputable publication Web Designer Depot as part of their design tools of the month series.

Responsive Typographic Scale Generator

The typographic scale tool makes it very easy to generate a typographic scale for your website. Creating content for your website with a strong visual hierarchy is beneficial as you can guide customers through your website and ultimately get more conversions, sales, enquiries etc. There is a large amount of critical thinking applied to the maths behind the typographic scales, so using one today can take the quality of your website to the next level.

The tool was designed to be very easy to use for users who do not know how to code. Selecting a type scale with the dropdown creates a typographic scale in visual form. The visualisation allows users to examine each individual step in the scale and work out which scale would be the best fit for their website.

Once the scale has been decided upon, users can get a copy of the code sample provided and give this to a developer. Ensuring the designer-to-developer handover is smoother means the project runs more efficiently and costs can be reduced. Finally, the code uses a modern property, CSS clamp, which means all font sizes adjust to the size of the screen – providing a tailored experience for each device.

Getting Found on Google With Featured Snippets

For any content that is added to a website, it is critical that it is easily found on search engines such as Google. We did some search engine optimisation (SEO) work for our suite of tools and it illustrates how it can be used to increase traffic to your website.

Each of the tools required a frequently asked questions (FAQ) section to handle some of the most common questions that users may have regarding the tool. Each question and answer uses a modern SEO approach called structured data and this creates the Google featured snippet shown below.

Using structured data in this way enables our tools to jump to the top of the results on Google. This way, the pages of the website receive more organic traffic and the overall domain authority is boosted.
